Tottenham Hotspur are looking for a new permanent manager after parting company with Antonio Conte.

The Italian left Spurs by mutual consent in wake of a mixed season and an explosive final post-match press conference.

Plenty of coaches have been linked with the Tottenham reins, including Mauricio Pochettino and Julian Nagelsmann.

Now, German outlet WAZ has claimed that one manager has already rejected the chance to join Spurs.

Daniel Levy reportedly ‘commissioned his advisors to explore’ whether Niko Kovac would be interested.

However, they ‘didn’t have to wait long for an answer’ from the Wolfsburg coach.

WAZ – via Sport Witness – reported that negotiations between Tottenham and the Croatian ‘never even started’.

Kovac apparently said it was ‘impossible for him’ to take the job.

The reason for this, as per WAZ, is that Kovac ‘has principles that he strictly adheres to’.

The biggest one of those is that he doesn’t break contracts.

Kovac’s contract at Wolfsburg runs until 2025 and, with no clause in his deal, he seems intent on seeing it through.

Non-starter

Admittedly, Kovac didn’t seem like a priority target for Spurs.

Not when you’ve got the likes of Pochettino, Nagelsmann and Luis Enrique all available.

However, it’s good to see Tottenham seemingly cast their net out wide.

At the same time, it’s nice to hear that Kovac is intent on seeing contracts through and resisted temptation from elsewhere.

Spurs will have to look elsewhere and, with Cristian Stellini and Ryan Mason in interim charge, they’re not particularly desperate for a new appointment.
