According to a report in The Sun, Nigel Pearson is extremely keen to take the Middlesbrough job.

Boro are on the hunt for a new manager, with Steve Agnew not expected to be appointed on a full-time basis at the Riverside Stadium.

Agnew took over from Aitor Karanka mid-way through last season, but was unable to keep Boro in the top tier.

And Pearson is now believed to be keen on helping Middlesbrough make an immediate return to the top flight.

Pearson has a vast amount of experience at Championship level, and is reportedly enthusiastic about the potential Boro have.

Boro head into the new season as one of the favourites to achieve promotion, as a major overhaul isn’t expected.

Although Boro may lose some key players, a mass exodus is not anticipated.

And Pearson apparently believes that Boro have the capabilities to make an immediate return to the top tier, making him excited by the job on offer at the Riverside.
