According to L’Equipe, Nice are discussing a move for Lyon striker Amine Gouiri after Celtic chose to back away from a deal for him.
It’s claimed that Nice want to raid Lyon for two players. One of them is attacker Gouiri, whilst left back Melvin Bard is the other player they’re keen to sign.
Discussions have allegedly started with Lyon in the hope of getting a deal done. A first offer recently went in for Gouiri, who they have been tracking for ‘several months’.
Nice will now hope to pull off a deal for Gouiri, and if Celtic have any intention of coming back in for him then they will need to do it very quickly.
Le Progres reported in May that Celtic have made a move for Gouiri. However, they backed away from a deal due to the finances required to sign him.
Lyon seemingly demanded too high of a price for Gouiri. Nice, backed by INEOS and Jim Ratcliffe, may just have the funds to push through a deal even in these uncertain times.

The 20-year-old has come up through the Lyon ranks, but played just five first-team games this season. He may now want playing time elsewhere, and that could come with Nice.
Celtic have been a great home for French attackers in recent years, but unless there is a U-turn from the Bhoys, Gouiri won’t be following in the footsteps of Moussa Dembele and Odsonne Edouard.
