Newcastle United’s potential new owners’ plan of being in charge in time for the Magpies’ FA Cup clash with Manchester City has already failed, the Telegraph report.

Newcastle have been waiting for months to hear whether the Premier League will approve their takeover bid.

The Saudi-buyers had reportedly hoped that their first game in charge would be against UAE-owned Manchester City, but instead the wait has continued.

Newcastle ended up losing 2-0 to City in the FA Cup, as they failed to cause many problems for Pep Guardiola’s side.

After the match the pressure was ramped up further on the Premier League to come to a conclusion over Newcastle’s potential takeover, with Alan Shearer and Steve Bruce both making critical comments.

The Telegraph do say that a final decision could come within days, but Newcastle have been waiting so long for news that there is some scepticism whether a verdict is imminent.

If Newcastle are taken over by new owners they could yet become one of the richest clubs sides in world football.
