According to The Mirror (Transfer Live blog, 17:10pm, Saturday, July 7, 2018), Newcastle United winger Matt Ritchie will demand in excess of £60,000 per week as salary in order to move to Stoke City in the summer transfer window.

It has been reported that Newcastle manager Rafael Benitez is open to selling Ritchie this summer.

Stoke, who will play in the Championship next season after getting relegated from the Premier League, will have to offer between £12 million and £15m as transfer fee for the former Bournemouth winger, according to the report.

According to Spotrac.com, Ritchie is earning £45,000 per week as salary at Newcastle at the moment.

Good move from Stoke City?

Ritchie is a very good winger who is proven at the Championship, and the 28-year-old would be a smart signing for Stoke, especially if they are to win automatic promotion back to the Premier League.

While the Scotland international’s reported wage demands of £60,000 per week do sound a lot, if the Potters want long-term success, then they will have to pay for it now.
