West Bromwich Albion are reportedly closing in on two signings from Premier League clubs.

According to a report from Sky Sports’ live transfer feed (31/1; 16:29), Newcastle winger Jacob Murphy is undergoing a medical at West Brom, while Stefan Johansen appears to be on his way towards following him through The Hawthorns door (16:30).

The Baggies appear to be taking things right down to the wire at the end of the January transfer window as Darren Moore looks to keep their momentum going in the Championship promotion race.

But it appears that there could be plenty to celebrate for the patient West Brom fans. Sky Sports reports that Murphy is having a medical as he prepares to join on loan from the Magpies (16:29). He has not had the best time since moving to St James’ Park in a £12 million deal (via Sky Sports), but he will unquestionably bring plenty of excitement and may fill the void left by Harvey Barnes.

And he could be joined by Johansen, with Sky Sports (16:30) also reporting that the Fulham midfielder is in talks over a temporary move, and he is expected to arrive at the training ground later in the evening.

It would be a fantastic statement from West Brom if they managed to sign both players before the deadline. Moore’s men, on paper, already appear to boast one of the strongest squads in the division.

And with two Premier League players who have proved themselves at Championship level arriving on loan, many of their promotion rivals will clearly be worried about what West Brom could do during the remaining months of the season.
