Newcastle United midfielder Jack Colback appears to be in line to secure a move to Nottingham Forest.

According to the Daily Mail’s live transfer feed (31st January 2018; 08:33), Newcastle midfielder Jack Colback could be on his way out of St James’ Park today, with the 28-year-old reportedly in talks over a move to Nottingham Forest.

It has been an incredibly frustrating season for Colback so far. The former Sunderland man is yet to make an appearance for Rafa Benitez’s side this term, with the midfielder instead predominantly featuring for the under-23s.

And it appears that he may soon be on his way in some capacity, with the Daily Mail reporting that he is now considering a potential move to the City Ground to become one of Aitor Karanka’s first signings following his recent appointment.

Forest – who completed a loan deal for defender Tobias Figueiredo on Tuesday – are currently situated in mid-table in the Championship and have gone through a somewhat bizarre run of results since Karanka arrived.

After losing a close game against Aston Villa, Forest then went to Molineux and beat runaway league leaders Wolves, but have since been knocked out of the FA Cup by Hull and suffered a disappointing 3-0 defeat at home to Preston North End on Tuesday.

If all goes through, Forest may be hoping to have Colback in their squad for their trip to Fulham this weekend and will be looking to try and close the five-point gap between themselves and the top half of the table.
