Newcastle’s Cheick Tiote is attracting interest from Marseille and Al Jazira.
Newcastle manager Rafael Benitez celebrates with Cheick Tiote
According to the Daily Mail, Marseille are prepared to pay £2.5m to sign Newcastle midfielder Cheick Tiote – and the player is keen on a departure.
Tiote, 29, joined the Magpies from FC Twente way back in 2010, with the Ivorian international starring in the Eredivisie before becoming a fan favourite at St. James’ Park.

In Tiote’s first three seasons on Tyneside, he impressed in the heart of the Newcastle midfield, with his strength and tenacity catching the eye, despite a flurry of yellow cards.
However, the last three seasons have been much harder going for Tiote, as he has struggled with form and fitness before playing a major role under Rafael Benitez towards the end of last term.

Now though, the Daily Mail report that Tiote could be on his way out of the club. It’s claimed that Tiote snubbed moves to China and Turkey in January in order to see out the season with Newcastle, but with relegation confirmed, he now wants to leave St. James’ Park.

Marseille and Al Jazira are both believed to be keen on Tiote, and are willing to pay around £2.5m to take him away from Tyneside this summer.
It’s added that manager Benitez will reinvest any funds he gets from the sale of Tiote, with a deal seemingly in the offing as a new era begins for Newcastle United.
