Joaquin Correa to Newcastle United looks to be a growing possibility.
According to Calciomercato last week, Newcastle might be interested in signing the 27-year-old Inter Milan attacker.
The San Siro outfit are reportedly willing to offload the Argentine forward this summer.
And it’s possible that the Magpies are the only club in the race.
At least, that’s what Gazzetta dello Sport have suggested after revealing that the Tyneside club are the ‘the only name currently considered’ at this moment in time with regards to signing Correa.
The South American – nicknamed El Tucu – could add an element of diversity to Eddie Howe’s attack at St James’s Park.
However, he isn’t a goal machine.
Six goals in 26 Serie A appearances last season [Transfermarkt] illustrate that he isn’t going to rip up the Premier League and challenge Darwin Nunez and Erling Haaland.
You could argue that English football is tougher than Italy’s top flight and a failure to light that up this past season doesn’t bode well for his chances.
However, it’s also true that he was predominantly a second striker at Inter and if Howe elected to play him in a more advanced role, well that could result in more goals for Newcastle United.
