The Mail reports that after falling awkwardly during Newcastle’s top flight clash with the Baggies, Ritchie sustained a broken wrist that forced him to play the rest of the game wearing a cast.

The Mail suggests that the Magpies’ current form may be behind Ritchie’s desire to keep playing in spite of the injury. Newcastle have lost four of their last five in the top flight and needed a stunning late comeback at The Hawthorns to prevent the side losing a fifth game in a row.

It will undoubtedly be a massive boost for Rafa Benitez to have the Scotland international carrying on while he recovers as he has unquestionably been one of the Magpies’ best performers this season.
Only Manchester City trio David Silva, Kevin De Bruyne and Leroy Sane have provided more assists in the Premier League than the five that Ritchie has provided this season, so having him in the team is certainly a bonus.
