The Evening Chronicle has claimed that Newcastle United will extend Stuart Findlay’s loan at Scottish Premiership side Kilmarnock, if the top-tier outfit make another offer for the defender.

Findlay, 22, has impressed since his loan move north of the border, making 16 league appearances at either centre-back or left-back for Lee McCulloch’s side.

However, his loan ends on January 7 and it remains to be seen if he will continue to pull on the blue and white of Kilmarnock’s strip at Rugby Park beyond that date.

But the report states that the Toon would be willing to extend the former Celtic defender’s loan, due to Rafa Benitez’s abundance in depth when it comes to his centre-backs.

Findlay remains behind the likes of Jamaal Lascelles, Ciaran Clark, Florian Lejeune and Chancel Mbemba in the pecking order at the back, after first being signed by Newcastle in July 2016 from the Scottish champions.

A loan until the end of the season is the most likely course of action, as Kilmarnock continue to remain beneficiaries of Findlay’s desire to prove to Benitez he deserves a chance at St. James’ Park.
