Newcastle United will have Allan Saint-Maximin back in the squad for Saturday’s massive Premier League clash against Brentford after a brief spell out through injury.
According to the Chronicle, Eddie Howe’s side will see the French winger return to the matchday team following a calf knock that saw Saint-Maximin miss last weekend’s 1-1 draw against West Ham in east London.
Whilst the injury wasn’t anything serious, Saint-Maximin was rested as a precaution as the northeast side claimed a huge point in their quest to distance themselves from the bottom three of the Premier League table.
Saint-Maximin has again been one of Newcastle’s best players this season, with the flashy attacker bagging five goals and three assists for the Magpies, who currently sit four points clear of 18th place Watford in the relegation zone.
Hailed as ‘breathtaking’ by former Manchester United captain Gary Neville as per the Shields Gazette, Newcastle fans will no doubt be excited to see Saint-Maximin overcome this small injury ahead of Saturday’s game.
Brentford sit just two points ahead of Newcastle in the division, and with Saint-Maximin back from injury, the Toon have a strong chance of making it four wins in their last five matches if the French attacker turns up on Saturday.
Saint-Maximin injury update is massive boost for Newcastle

As Newcastle’s second-top goalscorer this season, the return of Saint-Maximin from injury is huge for Howe’s side, especially given the run of form the Magpies currently find themselves in.
The winger has been electric this season and one of Newcastle’s main sources for goals, and with Saint-Maximin now fully over this minor injury, the 24-year-old could be used by Howe right from the start against Brentford in what would be a giant game for both clubs.
