French outlet Jeunes Footeux report that Paris Saint-Germain would be willing to accept the sale of Gini Wijnaldum for a fee of £21million. Reports claimed this month that Newcastle, West Ham and Aston Villa are keen.
Wijnaldum, 31, has endured a tricky time at PSG since swapping Liverpool for the Ligue 1 leaders last summer – on a free. He has played 28 times, but completed 90 minutes in just seven games. An unused sub, four times.
While he has a contract with Mauricio Pochettino’s side until the summer of 2024, the Netherlands ace might look to end his PSG troubles come the end of the campaign. If he does, a return to the Premier League looks likely.
Indeed, CalcioMercato reported earlier this month that Villa, West Ham and Newcastle were battling Atletico Madrid for Wijnaldum. Now, Jeunes Footeux say a £21million fee would be enough for PSG to accept his sale.
£21m for Wijnaldum: Who needs him – Newcastle, Villa or West Ham?
All three clubs would massively benefit from having someone of the talent, experience and winning mentality of Wijnaldum on their books. Newcastle, though, have to be front runners, given his past with the Tyneside club.
The ability to meet his wage demands, and the project will be enticing for Wijnaldum – who scored 11 goals in 40 appearances at Newcastle. Villa and West Ham are both exciting clubs to be a part of at the moment, too.
West Ham will likely be able to offer European football come next season, and living in London might be tempting. Villa would see Wijnaldum potentially reunite with Philippe Coutinho, if he joins permanently.
