Newcastle United won’t move for the Japan international until Aleksandar Mitrovic joins Fulham, according to a report.

According to The Daily Mail’s Live Transfer Blog [23/07/2018 10:20], Newcastle United “want to add” Yoshinori Muto to their ranks when Aleksandar Mitrovic leaves for Fulham.

Newcastle’s interest in the 26-year-old was first reported back in March when German outlet Kicker claimed that Rafael Benitez wanted the Mainz forward at St James’s Park.

And it looks like Benitez might still be interested in the Japan international, who represented his country at the World Cup in Russia this summer.

The Daily Mail’s Live Transfer Blog [23/07/2018 10:20] report that the Magpies are hoping to sign Muto once Mitrovic joins the Cottagers.

The Star reported this past weekend that Fulham were close to tying up a £20 million deal for the Serbian hitman, who helped Slavisa Jokanovic’s side win promotion to the top flight.

That windfall might then help Newcastle afford Muto who, according to The Mirror, is valued at around £14 million by the German outfit.

Muto netted eight times in 20 Bundesliga starts last season and it remains to be seen whether he is any better for United than Dwight Gayle or Joselu.
