Derby County midfielder Jason Knight is wanted by Newcastle United and Burnley ahead of the transfer deadline this month.
That’s according to The Irish Examiner, who claim that Knight finds himself in demand with just a matter of weeks to go in the transfer window.
Both Newcastle and Burnley are understood to have kept tabs on Knight having first targeted him last summer.
The problem right now is that Knight is wearing a medical boot having suffered an ankle injury – an injury inflicted on him by his Derby boss Wayne Rooney.
That sums up the chaos at Derby right now, and with money needed at Pride Park, Newcastle could land themselves a bargain.
Knight wouldn’t be able to play immediately, but the 20-year-old is a great talent for the future.

Knight already has 74 Championship appearances under his belt, as well as seven caps for the Republic of Ireland.
An energetic midfielder, Knight has been hailed as ‘fantastic’ by Wayne Rooney and has even been handed the captain’s armband with the Rams.
Newcastle haven’t been busy this summer, but Knight could be a smart capture for Steve Bruce if the Magpies can pull off a deal.
