Newcastle United and Brighton and Hove Albion are reportedly interested in signing Chelsea attacking midfielder Frankie Runham in the summer transfer window.

The Secret Scout have reported this morning that Newcastle United and Brighton and Hove Albion are keen on signing Frankie Runham from Chelsea.

Brighton have held talks regarding a move for the 16-year-old attacking midfielder.

Newcastle have also shown interest in the free-kick specialist, according to the report.

Chelsea’s Frankie Runham one for the future for Newcastle or Brighton

Frankie Runham is only 16 years of age now, and clearly Newcastle and Brighton want the playmaker for the long term.

Runham is one of the best young talents around, and he is also very versatile.

Although the teenager is an attacking midfielder by trade, Runham has operated at right wing and at right-back as well, according to Transfermarkt.co.uk.

The English teenager has played for Chelsea in the Under-18 Premier League, the UEFA Youth League and the FA Youth Cup this season.

Newcastle, Chelsea and Brighton all have very good academies, and it will be interesting to see what the youngster does in the summer of 2023.

Chelsea do not always tend to provide a pathway into the first team, and Runham will have to keep that in mind.

While Newcastle are a massive club who are on their way up, Brighton are giving chances to their young players, such as Evan Ferguson.

Ferguson joined Brighton only in 2021, and at 18, he is already part of the first team and is earning plaudits.
