According to Defensa Central, Newcastle United are interested in bringing Real Madrid boss Zinedine Zidane to the club in the event of their takeover going through.

Newcastle’s takeover has been dragging on. A £300million deal involving the Saudi Arabian sovereign wealth fund, Amanda Staveley and the Reuben brothers was expected to be done in April, but has still yet to be completed.

If the deal goes ahead as planned, big changes may arrive. Big-name players, managers and director have been linked with moves to St James’ Park for when the takeover goes ahead.

Now, it’s claimed that the potential new regime fancy a bold move for Zinedine Zidane. The Real Madrid boss is allegedly on the wish list alongside Massimiliano Allegri and Mauricio Pochettino.

It’s expected that Zidane will remain with Madrid. Real don’t want to see Zidane leave for many years yet, and he’s planning to stay put.

Juventus and the French national team are other jobs Zidane has been linked to, but unless Real part ways with Zidane, he won’t be leaving for Newcastle or anyone else.

Zidane, 47, has won three Champions League titles and one La Liga crown during his time as a manager, but having left Real once in 2018, it’s hard to see him moving on again any time soon.

There may well be some truth to this rumour, but a deal just seems so unlikely. Shoot for the stars by all means if that money comes in, but Allegri and Pochettino – both out of work right now – are much more likely candidates.
