Newcastle United are keen to sign Hull City winger Robert Snodgrass.
According to the Daily Star, Newcastle believe they can land Hull City winger Robert Snodgrass for half of the £10million asking price – and Rafael Benitez wants a new wide man due to question marks over Christian Atsu and Yoan Gouffran.
Snodgrass, 29, has been Hull’s leading light in a fairly dismal Premier League campaign, notching five goals and two assists in the Premier League, as well as two goals in the EFL Cup.

The Scotland international is in the best form of his career, and Hull have naturally attempted to tie him down to a new contract – but the former Leeds winger has snubbed that offer, and speculation now surrounds his future.
The Daily Star report that Newcastle United – currently in the Championship but looking a strong bet for promotion – are particularly interested in signing Snodgrass, with Rafael Benitez looking to add to his squad.

It’s claimed that, whilst Hull want £10million for Snodgrass, Newcastle believe they can sign him for just £5million – but it’s worth noting that Hull do have a 12-month option on Snodgrass’ contract, that they can activate in January.
Snodgrass’ exceptional left foot, superb deliveries and goal threat would make him a great signing for Newcastle, and the report claims that Rafael Benitez is interested in him due to doubts over the futures of two players.
The report notes that Chelsea loanee Christian Atsu is not only scheduled to return to Stamford Bridge at the end of the season, but is also heading to the Africa Cup of Nations with Ghana next month, meaning Benitez is looking at other options.
Additionally, fellow winger Yoan Gouffran is now 30, and is out of contract at the end of the season. Despite impressing at times this season, the Frenchman could be on his way out of St. James’ Park if Newcastle can land Snodgrass – and it’s stated that he would have no issues dropping into the Championship given Newcastle’s promotion prospects and Hull’s relegation battle.
