Newcastle United are reportedly eyeing two French right backs.

Newcastle United fans may not have been thinking that a right back would be a priority in this month’s transfer window, but they may need to now.
The Magpies are in the market for reinforcements this month despite having a small budget, and a host of positions are surely on Rafael Benitez’s radar.
Left back, attacking midfield, striker…they’re all areas Newcastle fans would love to see strengthened. Right back? Well, less so.
Newcastle already have DeAndre Yedlin, Javier Manquillo and Jamie Sterry all available at right back, and yet two more have been linked with the club today.
France Football claim that Newcastle are interested in Strasbourg’s Kenny Lala and Dijon star Valentin Rosier, in what would certainly be curious moves from Benitez.
Both may have featured at left back, but they aren’t naturals there, and are predominantly right-footed. Signing one of them would surely lead to speculation that Yedlin or Manquillo are being moved on in the near future.

Statistically though, both players have been superb this season. 27-year-old Lala is enjoying the season of his life, notching three goals and six assists in just 17 Ligue 1 games, so it’s no surprise he’s attracting interest.
Meanwhile Rosier, 22, has grabbed four assists in 17 games, showing his own attacking prowess, whilst he has earned seven caps for the French Under-21’s too.
If Newcastle desperately needed a right back, either would be smart signings. As it is, with Newcastle needing a left back instead, this rumour seems curious.
