Newcastle United reportedly want to sign Norwich City goalkeeper Jon McCracken this summer.

According to a report from The Sun on Sunday (7/7; page 61), Newcastle are interested in signing Jon McCracken with the goalkeeper yet to sign a long-term contract with Norwich.
McCracken’s future at Carrow Road appears to be in the air, with The Scottish Sun reporting during the week that Burnley have taken the 19-year-old on trial.
The Sun on Sunday (7/7; page 61) also suggests that the Clarets are in the race to land the teenage stopper, but the Magpies want the youngster who had previously been on Hamilton Academical’s books in Scotland.
Could Newcastle be preparing for goalkeeper exit?
Newcastle have a lot of depth in goal, with Martin Dubravka preventing the likes of Karl Darlow, Rob Elliot and Freddie Woodman from getting in the first-team during the most recent campaign.
It is not a position therefore, that the Magpies need to look at addressing urgently. But perhaps the club are expecting to lose at least one of their goalkeepers during the coming weeks.

If Dubravka stays, it would not be a huge surprise to see either Darlow or Elliot move on in search of first-team football. Meanwhile, Woodman would be forgiven for wondering if his development is being somewhat stifled by his lack of game-time.
McCracken appears to be some way off being capable of leaping ahead of any of the four first-team keepers at St James’ Park. But if one or two leave, then Newcastle’s move for the Norwich man arguably makes a lot more sense.
