According to Corriere dello Sport, Newcastle have joined the race to sign Roma maestro Nicolo Zaniolo, who Tottenham are also interested in.
What’s the story?
Well, Corriere dello Sport believe Newcastle have significant funds to invest in a match-winner, and the Magpies view Zaniolo as that man.
The Italian news outlet also mention that Spurs are keen, but Zaniolo is waiting for a call from Roma to discuss a contract renewal.
As of now, that call has not come.
Zaniolo wants to repay Roma for the faith shown in him during his time out injured, although Antonio Conte is a huge admirer of the attacking midfielder.
Corriere dello Sport add that Manchester United are also keen.
The 22-year-old has enjoyed a decent season so far, scoring two goals while also recording three assists.
What can Nicolo Zaniolo offer Newcastle or Tottenham?

You may not have heard of Zaniolo, and if that is the case, a comparison might be beneficial.
Interestingly, Roberto Mancini once likened the 8-cap Italy international to Manchester United playmaker Paul Pogba.
The Frenchman is among the best midfielders in Europe, which bodes pretty well for Zaniolo.

Furthermore, Zaniolo – who Roma paid €4.5m (£4m) for – is a versatile figure, having lined up on the right wing as well as at centre-forward so far this season.
Aged just 22, he would be a fine long-term investment for Newcastle or Tottenham.
The only issue, however, is his injury problems. Zaniolo suffered serious cruciate ligament damage last season, which could hamper him throughout his career.
In that respect, his arrival in the Premier League would come with risks.
