According to The Scottish Sun, Newcastle United are interested in signing Aberdeen striker Sam Cosgrove in January.
It’s claimed that Magpies scouts are watching Cosgrove, and are weighing up whether a January deal is possible.
Aberdeen agreed to sell Cosgrove to Guingamp over the summer, with a £2million fee agreed – but he turned the move down.
Newcastle could now swoop in to sign Cosgrove in January, giving Steve Bruce another goalscoring option without breaking the bank.
Having landed goalkeeper Mark Gillespie from Motherwell over the summer, Bruce may now pounce with a nother signing from the Scottish Premiership.
Cosgrove, 24, previously spent time with Everton, but has really become a star with Aberdeen, smashing 45 goals in 94 games for the Dons.
Standing at 6ft 2in, Cosgrove is a big, physical striker, and Newcastle seemingly see him as a similar threat to Andy Carroll.
A deal shouldn’t be too expensive given the deal Aberdeen agreed with Guingamp, but whether he make the step up to the Premier League remains to be seen.
