Newcastle United are said to be keen on Liverpool’s Xherdan Shaqiri by the Daily Mail.
Liverpool want to fetch £25 million for the winger this summer (Liverpool Echo), but that has not put Newcastle off.
The Magpies apparently believe that the winger could enhance the quality of their attacking line-up.
Newcastle may need their takeover to go through to stand any chance to land Shaqiri, but a move to St. James’ Park could appeal to the Swiss international.
Shaqiri stated to The Sun nine months ago that he wanted more game-time at Liverpool.
“I am disappointed that I am no longer getting to play in matches. No player is happy to sit on the bench,” he said.
“It is clear that I would like to have more playing time. I need to take a good look at the situation and find a solution.”

Since those quotes Shaqiri has continued to only have limited game-time at Liverpool, so it seems likely he could push for a move this summer.
If he was to join Newcastle he could offer Steve Bruce’s side more creativity in the final third.
And he would surely increase Newcastle’s goalscoring threat, which could be important next term.
