Newcastle United have been tipped to bring Christian Eriksen back to the Premier League if Mauricio Pochettino takes over at St James Park with Milan Skriniar also emerging as a target for the Magpies, according to Inter Live.

It’s fair to say the Newcastle need a lot of things to come together if they are to pull off one of the most eye-catching double deals in years.

For one, that much-discussed Saudi Arabian takeover needs to finally get across the line.

The Tyneside giants are trying their very best to hack through the red tape but, as it stands, Mike Ashley is still pulling the strings at St James’ Park.

For now, then, any hopes Newcastle had of luring Pochettino to the North East have been placed on the backburner.

That doesn’t mean, however, that plans are not in place for if or when the former Tottenham Hotspur boss does take Steve Bruce’s place in the hottest of hot-seats.

‘One of the best’

InterLive claims that Newcastle would love to reunite Pochettino with Eriksen, just five months after the Denmark international left north London for Inter Milan in a £17 million deal.

“For me, in his position, he is one of the best,” Pochettino once said of a man who blossomed into a genuinely world-class creative midfielder during their time together at Spurs.

“It is true that he is a player that fits very well for our philosophy. I am so happy he is here.”

Eriksen has struggled for form and rhythm since moving to Italy and, while no one is writing him off just yet, Inter would perhaps be willing to listen to offers if Newcastle were willing to hand them a big profit on a player they signed earlier this year.

The report adds that Skriniar, the £45 million-rated centre-back, is another Inter Milan star on Newcastle’s radar.

One of the finest defenders in the game today, the Slovakian international would cost Newcastle a club-record transfer fee.

Until Mohammed Bin Salman gets his way, however, two stunning signings will remain pipe dreams at best.
