Islam Slimani could make it on to Newcastle United’s bench for their next match, but he won’t be fit enough to start.

Slimani is currently away with Algeria on international duty, but the target man did not play for his nation yesterday.
Newcastle are now hoping that Slimani will be left out again on Tuesday, as they feel he could have a chance of playing against Huddersfield.

Slimani is unlikely to be fit enough to start, but there is a feeling in the Magpies camp that the striker could take his place on the substitutes’ bench.
Slimani has still not featured for Newcastle since he joined in the January transfer window, in what has been a frustrating transfer so far.

The Leicester loanee has still not joined in with contact training, but there are plans to involve him with the group next week.
And if Slimani does make it back to fitness, it will make Rafael Benitez’s options up front look far stronger, even though he may not be able to start for some time yet.
