Newcastle United and Bournemouth are being linked with moves for the former Tottenham Hotspur player.

Newcastle United want to bring former Tottenham Hotspur midfielder Lewis Holtby back to the Premier League, alongside Bournemouth, The Mirror reports.

Holtby had a largely unsuccessful 18-month spell in English football, where he also spent time on loan to Fulham from Tottenham.

Nevertheless, it is claimed the 26-year-old could be ready to return to the country of his father’s birth, having been regular for Hamburg over the past two campaigns, and he could have Newcastle and Bournemouth to choose from.

According to Transfermarkt, Holtby’s contract has 12 months left to run, and The Mirror reports he could be available for around £5 million.

Newcastle are yet to add to their squad since returning to the Premier League this summer, and The Irish Sun claims that Magpies boss Rafa Benitez is growing frustrated at the club’s lack of business so far.

Holtby, who played for Schalke 04 and Alemannia Aachen before Tottenham, has been capped three times by Germany.

Would the former Tottenham Hotspur midfielder make a good signing for Newcastle United?
