Newcastle United are expected to complete a deal to bring Joselu from Stoke City in the near future.

According to a report in the Chronicle, Newcastle United are still eyeing up a deal to sign another striker, even though Joselu is set to arrive from Stoke City in the near future.

Newcastle are working on a deal to sign Joselu, and are expected to complete the transfer in the near future.

The Chronicle claim that Joselu was not on Benitez’s initial list of targets this summer but, after failing with other bids, the Spanish boss was convinced that the Stoke forward could be a good addition.

Joselu struggled to make much of an impact during his first season in English football, and netted just four goals in 22 Premier League appearances in the 2015/16 campaign.

The target-man spent last season on loan at Deportivo La Coruna, where he scored six times.

Benitez feels that Joselu could still be a good addition for Newcastle, but he would ideally like further depth to his attacking options.

And Newcastle are expected to continue to chase another front man, before the close of the transfer window.
