Newcastle United boss Rafael Benitez has reportedly been impressed by Chelsea forward Tammy Abraham this season.

According to a report in the Daily Star, Rafael Benitez is keen to bring in Tammy Abraham at Newcastle United.

Benitez is determined to upgrade Newcastle’s attacking options, to help them compete back in the Premier League.

Abraham has been on loan from Chelsea to Bristol City, where he has enjoyed a highly impressive season.

The 19-year-old forward has scored 26 goals in 47 appearances, during his first season in senior football.

Abraham looks capable of making a step up to Premier League level, but there are question marks over whether he will be handed a chance at Chelsea.

Antonio Conte’s side are expected to sign a big-money forward over the summer, meaning Abraham’s chances of breaking into the first-team look limited.

Newcastle are now keen to take Abraham – but the deal is likely to be a loan.

Chelsea are understood to be keen to keep hold of the young striker, but may be willing to offer him the chance to go out on loan to aid his development.
