Newcastle United are looking for a new manager to replace Rafael Benitez, who left earlier this week.

Newcastle are looking for Rafael Benitez’s replacement, following the Spanish boss’s departure earlier this week.
It has not been clear who Newcastle were going for, but it seems that Martinez is now their first choice.
Mike Ashley is said to want to appoint a manager with Premier League experience, and Martinez has that after spells with both Wigan Athletic and Everton before he took the Belgium job.
Newcastle are said to be prepared to offer Martinez a big pay rise if he does take the job at St. James’ Park.
Martinez has some doubters in England, as his defensive organisational skills have sometimes been questioned during his time in the Premier League.

Both Everton and Wigan had sketchy defensive records when Martinez was in charge, but they did play some very stylish football.
Former Newcastle boss Steve McClaren is also a big fan of Martinez, and has admitted to the Telegraph that he has previously taken inspiration from the 45-year-old.
Martinez’s arrival at Newcastle certainly looks more appealing than some of the names which have been linked with the job, with the Magpies seemingly stepping up their search for a new manager now.
