Leicester City striker Islam Slimani has attracted the attentions of Newcastle United.

Newcastle are said to be wanting Slimani on loan, rather than on a permanent deal.
The Magpies do not have the budget to sign the Algerian outright, but they may be chasing an impossible deal by going for Slimani on loan.
There would be very little value for Leicester to allow Slimani to leave on a temporary basis.

The target-man is not getting any younger, and six months elsewhere is unlikely to do much for his value.
Of course, Newcastle may be able to cover some of Slimani’s wages, but Leicester have other interested parties.

Watford are said to have made Slimani one of their top targets this month, by the Daily Star.
And if Leicester have an option to offload Slimani permanently, that would make a lot more sense than sending him on loan to Newcastle.
