Newcastle United striker Aleksandar Mitrovic’s future at St. James’ Park seems uncertain.
According to a report in the Chronicle, Newcastle United are willing to allow Aleksandar Mitrovic to leave this summer – but only if they recoup the money they paid for him back in 2015.
Newcastle signed Mitrovic for around £14 million for Anderlecht two seasons ago.
And it is believed that Rafael Benitez’s side will be refusing to take a loss on the target man this summer.
Mitrovic has interest from both Fenerbahçe and Besiktas, who are optimistic that a deal could be done.
But the Chronicle believe that Newcastle may be more responsive to a loan move than a permanent transfer.
Newcastle have put a high asking price on Mitrovic, as they believe he could still come good at St. James’ Park.
Mitrovic has struggled to score with any regularity in English football, but has still shown flashes of quality.
And Newcastle may opt to loan the 22-year-old out, rather than sell him this summer, unless they can get all of their money back for the striker.
