Swansea City’s Dan James looks set to leave the Championship for the Premier League with Newcastle United reportedly interested.

Newcastle United have joined the race to sign speedy Swansea City winger Daniel James this summer, according to The Chronicle.
The Welsh international is quickly becoming one of the most coveted young players in British football and looks set for a move to the Premier League, just a few months after a January deadline-day move to Leeds fell through.
James was linked with Manchester United and Liverpool as recently as Tuesday, as reported by The Mail, which highlights the challenge Newcastle face as they look to lure the jet-heeled forward to St James’ Park.
But The Chronicle claims that Rafa Benitez’s side have registered an interest, as have top flight rivals Bournemouth. James, who could yet agree a new contract with Swansea, is valued at a bargain £10 million with his current deal set to expire in the summer of 2020.

Now, Newcastle owner Mike Ashley has been famously reluctant to invest in recent transfer windows but James is exactly the sort of player he likes, given the 21-year-old’s potential re-sale value.
“He is a talent, and when you have got that raw pace you are a threat at any level,” Wales manager and Manchester United legend Ryan Giggs said of James back in March, after he scored the winner in a Euro 2020 qualifier against Slovakia (South Wales Argus).
