Paul Dummett is reportedly in line to get a new contract at Premier League club Newcastle United.

Newcastle United will offer Paul Dummett a new contract, according to The Shields Gazette.

The 23-year-old defender has been at the Magpies his entire and has a contract until June 2018, according to Transfermarkt.co.uk.

It has been reported by The Shields Gazette that Newcastle are impressed with the progress of Dummett and are open to giving him an improved deal.

Does Paul Dummett deserve a new contract?

Dummett’s current contract runs until the end of the 2017-18 season, which means that he already has a long-term deal.

However, given the 23-year-old’s progress and impressive performances of late, it makes sense for Newcastle to hand him an improved contract.

One of the Wales international’s strengths is his versatility, as he can play both as a left-back and as a centre-back.

Last season Dummett made 25 appearances in the Premier League, creating 15 chances in the process.

The Welshman had a pass accuracy of 74% and a shot accuracy of 25%, and won 84 headers, two dribbles and 31 tackles.
