According to The Northern Echo, Newcastle United will make a move for Chelsea-owned striker Tammy Abraham if Aston Villa lose the Championship playoff final against Derby County next season.

Villa will take on Derby at Wembley Stadium in London for a place in the Premier League next season.

Abraham, signed on a season-long long deal from Premier League club Chelsea in the summer of 2018, is set to start for the Villans against the Rams.

The 21-year-old striker has scored 26 goals and provided three assists in 39 Championship appearances for the Villans this season, according to WhoScored.

The Northern Echo has claimed that should Villa fail to win the playoff final, then Newcastle will make a move for the youngster – who earns £50,000 per week as salary, according to Spotrac.com.

The report has claimed that the Magpies wanted to sign Abraham back in the summer of 2017, but the striker moved to Swansea City instead.

It will be interesting to see what Abraham’s response is this time if Newcastle do indeed make a move for him.
