Newcastle United owner Mike Ashley and Amanda Staveley are currently negotiating a price for the club.

According to a report in the Daily Mirror, Newcastle United’s takeover is likely to go beyond the January transfer window.

Newcastle owner Mike Ashley was spotted in discussions with Amanda Staveley over a curry in the week, as the pair continued to negotiate a deal for the club.

Both Ashley and Staveley are keen to negotiate a deal, but will take their time to agree a price.

Staveley and Ashley are believed to have differing valuations of the Magpies, with neither of the pair budging just yet.

There is confidence that a deal will eventually be done, but the Mirror claim that the takeover is not imminent.

Newcastle could now be waiting until after January until Staveley takes charge, and that will not please Rafael Benitez.

The Spanish boss has been wanting the takeover to go through before the January transfer window, to provide him with more funds to spend on players.

However, it seems that Ashley will remain at the helm, which could leave Benitez short of money to spend on new additions.
