Newcastle United have been tracking Jacob Murphy for much of the summer so far.

According to a report in the Northern Echo, Newcastle United are set to make a final offer for Jacob Murphy of Norwich City.

Newcastle have already had a bid turned down for the England youth international, and plan to increase their offer to £10 million.

However, Newcastle will not be raising their bid any further – and have informed Norwich that if this offer is rejected they will simply walk away. The Magpies hope that this will force through the deal.

Norwich are understood to want £16 million, meaning that Magpies’ bid is still some way behind the Championship side’s valuation of the wide-man.

Murphy is understood to be keen on a move to St. James’ Park, but whether he will get his wish remains to be seen.

Murphy was a key player for Norwich last term, and the Canaries are understandably keen to keep hold of the youngster.

Newcastle have found things frustrating in the transfer window to date, with just two new signings secured.

Rafael Benitez’s side have brought in both Florian Lejeune and Christian Atsu to date.
