Newcastle United are keen to add to their striking options this month, with Rafael Benitez assessing his options.

Newcastle manager Rafa Benitez looks on during the Premier League match between Manchester United and Burnley at Old Trafford on December 26, 2017 in Manchester, England.

According to a report in the Northern Echo, Newcastle United boss Rafael Benitez has put four strikers on his wishlist at St. James’ Park, but deals are proving very complicated to complete.

Benitez has added Kevin Gameiro, Islam Slimani and Danny Ings to the names that he wants to bring in at St. James’ Park, but the chances of completing a deal for any of the striking trio are looking slim.

Atletico Madrid want big money for Gameiro, which puts him out of Newcastle’s price range, and Tottenham Hotspur are already at the front of the queue, if the Frenchman is allowed to leave on loan.

Slimani, meanwhile, has interest from Besiktas, who are keen on taking the Algerian on a permanent transfer.

Leicester are said to be more keen on offloading Slimani permanently, which means Newcastle are unlikely to convince the Foxes to let the target-man go on a temporary spell.

Ings, meanwhile, is the most complicated player for Newcastle to get hold of.

Liverpool simply don’t want to let the striker leave, as Daniel Sturridge looks set to move elsewhere.

Newcastle could now be forced to assess their other options, as they look to bolster their attack this month.
