According to a report from Kicker, Newcastle United will announce the signing of Mikel Merino today.
The Borussia Dortmund man has been linked with a move to Newcastle this week.
Sky Sports reported that the Spanish midfielder, 21, was on Tyneside yesterday to undergo his medical with the Magpies.
And it must have been a successful one as German publication Kicker report that Newcastle will announce the Spain Under-21 international at some point today.
Merino will, according to the report, join Rafael Benitez’s side on a season-long loan, with a view to making the switch permanent next summer.
If and when it materialises, Merino will become Newcastle’s fifth summer signing, after Christian Atsu, Florian Lejeune, Jacob Murphy and Javier Manquillo.
