Newcastle United are still interested in Leicester City’s Islam Slimani, as they look to strengthen their attack.

Newcastle have already had a bid rejected for Jorgensen this month, and are weighing up going back for the Dane.
Newcastle are expected to move again for Jorgensen, but if Feyenoord continue to stand firm they may be forced to look elsewhere.
And it is suggested that Leicester City striker Slimani is the next name on Rafael Benitez’s wishlist.

Newcastle have been long-term admirers of Slimani, but doing a deal with Leicester has proven difficult.
The Foxes want £20 million for the Algerian, even though he has struggled to nail down a place since moving to the King Power Stadium back in 2016.
Leicester may be willing to loan out Slimani, but Newcastle will not know if Claude Puel will sanction that move until the end of the transfer window.

However, it may be that Slimani could be a more exciting target for Newcastle fans than Jorgensen.
Jorgensen is a relatively unknown prospect in England, and although his scoring record in the Eredivisie is impressive, many forwards have struggled with moving to the Premier League from Holland.
Slimani, on the other hand, hit seven goals in 23 appearances last term, and does seem to have the capabilities to score goals in England, despite his lack of games at Leicester.
