Newcastle United are interested in spending in the January transfer window.

According to a report in the Chronicle, Newcastle United remain interested in signing Bournemouth striker Callum Wilson.

Newcastle have been linked with Wilson for over six months, and believe that a deal could be possible in January.

The 24-year-old striker has failed to fully establish his place as Bournemouth’s starting line-up this season.

Wilson has been left out of a quarter of the Cherries’ starting line-ups in the Premier League so far this campaign.

The rapid forward has netted six goals in 17 appearances in the top flight this season, and Rafael Benitez has seen enough to believe that Wilson would enhance the quality of his squad at St. James’ Park.

Newcastle will have to pay a huge fee if they are to bring Wilson in though.

Bournemouth are said to want over £20 million for the former Coventry City man, which would smash their transfer record.

Newcastle are currently in second place in the Championship table, and they are eager to add to their squad to try and ensure they earn promotion this term.
