The Nottingham Post understands that Newcastle United are pondering an offer for Ben Osborn.
Newcastle were strongly linked with a move for the versatile Nottingham Forest midfielder in January and it is claimed the Magpies ‘monitored his progress intently’ in the final weeks of last season – along with several other clubs.
Rafa Benitez, the Newcastle manager, is said to be eyeing reinforcements in wide and central midfield – the two positions in which Osborn is most commonly found.
And with nothing coming so far of the Spaniard’s alleged interest in the likes of Angers’ Nicolas Pepe and Fulham’s Tom Cairney, moving on to Osborn seems like a logical next step.

Nevertheless, The Nottingham Post suggests that Newcastle could be setting themselves up for a fall, with the 22-year-old said to have ‘no interest’ in seeking a move away from the City Ground.
A move to Newcastle would see Osborn reunited with former Reds teammates Karl Darlow and Jamaal Lascelles.

Like the pair, the Derby-born player progressed through the ranks at Forest, and he scored or made 11 goals in a side which narrowly avoided relegation last season.
Would the Nottingham Forest star be doing the right thing in snubbing Newcastle United?
