Newcastle United players have already spoken that Steve Bruce working them harder in training than Rafael Benitez.

According to the Chronicle, Newcastle United’s players have been shocked by the amount of running they have had to do in training since Steve Bruce took over.

Bruce has been keen to work on Newcastle’s players fitness, and they are being worked harder physically under their new manager than they ever were when Rafael Benitez was at the helm.

Newcastle’s team are said to have been taken aback by the sheer amount of running that they are now doing.

However, the Magpies squad are said to be enjoying Bruce’s methods, even though they are being pushed.

Bruce’s full tactical plan is yet to become clear, but Benitez was fairly flexible during his time in charge.

Benitez’s Newcastle tended to be defensively solid, but they could also take the game to opposition sides, and play on the front foot.

Newcastle’s competitive campaign begins next weekend when they take on Arsenal at St. James’ Park.
