Newcastle United have made a record breaking bid for a striker.

Newcastle has finally been told he can spend at St. James’ Park this month by Mike Ashley.
And Gameiro is Newcastle’s strike target, according to the Express.

The French striker has fallen out of favour at Atleti, following their signing of Diego Costa.
Gameiro has struggled for game time for Diego Simeone’s side this term, but has previously been a prolific scorer in Spain’s top tier.
Gameiro is now 30-years-old, so Newcastle spending so much money on him would be an impressive show of ambition, given that he is unlikely to have much re-sale value.

Newcastle have been looking for a new striker for much of the season so far, as their current collection of front men have failed to hit the back of the net with any regularity.
Newcastle’s current record transfer stands at £16 million, and Gameiro is set to cost slightly more, if he does move to Tyneside this month.
