Newcastle United boss Steve Bruce is said to be on the look out for a new left-back this summer.

According to a report in the Chronicle, Newcastle United have been offered the chance to sign Augsburg’s Philipp Max.

Augsburg look likely to sell the left-back this summer, and they want £18 million for Newcastle for the defender.

Steve Bruce is said to be targeting a new full-back, and the Chronicle suggest that Newcastle have a chance to land the talented defender.

However, Newcastle are yet to commit to paying the asking price that the German side want.

If Newcastle were to sign Max it would be an impressive addition to their team.

Max has been linked with Liverpool recently in AS Sport, with Jurgen Klopp thought to be an admirer, and he is one of the most dangerous attacking full-backs in the Bundesliga.

Newcastle are clearly short at left-back, with Paul Dummett and Achraf Lazaar their only options in the position as things stand.

And if Bruce was to push on with a transfer for Max, it would be an eye-catching signing for the Magpies to make.
