Newcastle United want Taylor Harwood-Bellis but face major Premier League competition for the Manchester City defender.
The Magpies have seen Fabian Schar and Sven Botman shine as a defensive partnership this season.
Yet with Jamaal Lascelles likely to move on this summer, Newcastle may need to bring in another right-footed defender.
90Min now report that Newcastle are interested in snapping up Manchester City defender Taylor Harwood-Bellis.
It’s suggested that Harwood-Bellis knows he is down the pecking order at City and a summer move is possible.
Harwood-Bellis is out of contract in 2024 and City do want to hold talks over a new deal this summer.
Newcastle will be looking with intent, possibly launching a cash bid for Harwood-Bellis as his City contract runs down.
Brentford, Fulham and West Ham United are also understood to be interested in Harwood-Bellis though, with loan club Burnley also interested in keeping the defender.
Newcastle clearly face a major battle for Harwood-Bellis but will hope to lure the defender up to Tyneside.

Celtic missed out on Taylor Harwood-Bellis
Harwood-Bellis making the move to Burnley wasn’t a huge shock.
The 21-year-old was already on Vincent Kompany’s radar having come through the City ranks whilst the Belgian was club captain.
Harwood-Bellis then joined Kompany’s Anderlecht side in 2021 before reuniting at Burnley again last summer.
It’s clear that Kompany thinks highly of Harwood-Bellis, hailing him as a ‘leader’ and a ‘great player’.
The move was a blow to Celtic though, who had been hoping to sign Harwood-Bellis themselves according to Sky Sports.
Celtic missed out as Harwood-Bellis ended up back with Kompany, and his displays for Burnley have put him on Newcastle’s radar.
That may sting a little for Celtic, who were probably looking at a loan deal but with the hope of a permanent switch.
Now likely to be out of Celtic’s price range, Harwood-Bellis could end up joining the fast-rising Magpies.
