Newcastle United have made two signings so far this summer, but are hoping for more new players to arrive.

According to a report in the Chronicle, Newcastle United have made ‘positive noises’ that a new signing could arrive at St. James’ Park before next week.

Newcastle are set to head to the Republic of Ireland on a pre-season training camp, as Rafael Benitez’s puts his new squad through their paces.

And Newcastle are said to be hopeful that a new addition could arrive before the team travel.

Newcastle have signed Martin Dubravka on a permanent deal this summer, and also brought in Ki Sung-Yeung on a free transfer.

But Benitez is still very keen to bring in more new players, as he looks to improve the quality of his squad.

Newcastle avoided relegation fairly comfortably last term, but Benitez is determined to push on and turn the Magpies into genuine contenders to win trophies.

Newcastle are currently being heavily linked with Alassane Plea of Nice, with a striker thought to be among their top targets.
