According to a report in the Northern Echo, Newcastle United have lodged bids for Danny Ings and Islam Slimani.

Newcastle are on the look out for a new striker in the coming weeks, as Rafael Benitez looks to improve his forward options.

Newcastle have struggled to find a prolific goalscorer this term, with Joselu and Dwight Gayle struggling.

Benitez also clearly does not fancy Aleksandar Mitrovic, who could be moved on in the coming weeks, with the Serbian barely being afforded a chance this campaign.

Ings and Slimani are among Newcastle’s top targets to come in, and it is said that loan offers have been made for both of the pair.

Liverpool’s Ings has struggled for first-team football this season, and it is thought that Jurgen Klopp may allow him to leave on a temporary deal.

Slimani, meanwhile, is very much second choice at Leicester – although he did score on the Foxes’ last outing against Huddersfield Town.
