Report: Newcastle United keen on Chelsea's Tammy Abraham

Newcastle United are eager to buy Tammy Abraham, who has been on loan at Aston Villa this season.

According to the Northern Echo, Newcastle United would be willing to sign Tammy Abraham from Chelsea, if the Blues make him available.

Newcastle are fearful of losing Ayoze Perez, with interest mounting in the striker.

Rafael Benitez’s side also face the prospect of Salomon Rondon not returning next season, as Mike Ashley has doubts over funding a deal for the West Bromwich Albion.

Rondon has been one of Newcastle’s stars this season, and if he does not return permanently, then Benitez would have his work cut out replacing the Venezuelan.

Abraham could offer similar qualities as the West Brom man, but he is also younger and quicker, which makes him an exciting target.

The England international would be a more expensive target, but he fits into the criteria of player that Ashley wants to bring to Newcastle – in the sense that he is young and has room to improve.

The complication is that Chelsea are operating under a transfer ban, which makes them very reluctant to sell any players, as they cannot replace them.

Abraham has been out on loan at Aston Villa this term, and he has notched 25 goals in the Championship.

If Abraham is to leave Chelsea it has been reported by the Birmingham Mail that it could cost around £30 million to sign him.
