Report: Newcastle United interested in Marc Cucurella

Barcelona youngster Marc Cucurella is reportedly on the radar of Newcastle United.

According to The Chronicle, Newcastle United are interested in signing Barcelona left-back Marc Cucurella in the summer transfer window.

It has been reported that Newcastle have been tracking the 20-year-old left-back this summer.

The Spanish youngster have spent the 2018-19 campaign on loan at Eibar, who have a €2 million (£1.76m) option on him, according to the report.

The report has also claimed that Barcelona will then consider signing the left-back back for €4m (£3.53m) this summer before evaluating their next move regarding the youngster.

The Chronicle has also claimed of interest in Cucurella from Real Betis and Sevilla.

Newcastle could do with a left-back, and the 20-year-old Cucurella does appear to be a very Mike Ashley signing – a young and talented player to sell them on for a bigger transfer fee later after developing him.

According to WhoScored, Cucurella made 26 starts and five substitute appearances in La Liga for Eibar this season, scoring one goal and proving two assists in the process.
