According to The Daily Mail, Newcastle United are interested in signing Joe Willock on loan from Arsenal before the January transfer window closes on Monday.

It has been report that the Arsenal midfielder is at the top of Newcastle manager Steve Bruce’s transfer wish-list.

The Magpies are pushing to convince the Gunners, according to the report, with The Mirror (print edition, page 61, January 30, 2021) also claiming interest from Newcastle in the 21-year-old, who was described as “brilliant” by former Manchester United midfielder Owen Hargreaves on BT Sport 2 (7:47pm, November 26, 2020).

Leaving Arsenal on loan?

Willock is a talented and promising young midfielder who has done relatively well when he has played, but his playing time at Arsenal has been limited.

According to WhoScored, the Englishman has made two starts and five substitute appearances in the Premier League, and has scored three goals and provided three assists in five Europa League games for the Gunners so far this season.

A loan move to Newcastle could see him get more playing time, but staying at Arsenal would help him impress manager Mikel Arteta in training and learn from him.
